Weighted glass bottle encased in a reflective gold hue.   What Does The Other Side Of Oud Eau de Parfum Smell Like? From the very first spritz, The Other Side Of Oud is a slice of hot ginger cake in the middle of winter. It's warm, deliciously spiced and is somehow a little moreish as cinnamon, fresh cardamom and juicy ginger unite. The heart allows oud to take centre stage - as you'd guess from both the name of the perfume and the collection it belongs to. Here, perfumers Maurice Roucel and Pierre Guéros explore oud's unexpected side, showcasing the contrast between the roasted and fresh facets of oud. This is paired with a bouquet of geranium and coffee flowers before vibrant and gourmand roasted coffee, sensual vanilla and smoked incense round off this clever composition.Top notes are Cinnamon, Cardamom, Ginger. Heart notes are Oud, Geranium, Coffee Flowers. The Other Side of Oud is as magnetic and captivating as the prince who inspired it: Hussein Bin Ali, Sharif Of Mecca. Envisioning a single, independent Arab State, Prince Hussain visited King George V in the early 20th century with the aim of earning British political recognition of the Arab state. Following negotiations, Prince Hussein accepted King George V's request to aid Britain in the war against Turkey in return for the recognition he desired. Before his return to Amman, Prince Hussein visited Atkinsons House, where he was hypnotised by the rich nuances of scents and looking to celebrate the pact from which an Independent Arab State would be born, so he commissioned a new fragrance to symbolise the new-found union between the Middle East and Europe. The Prince's conditions were clear: the fragrance should be modern and intriguing but still preserve a distinct heart of oud, which is a precious material in the Middle East. This vision is the inspiration behind Atkinsons' 2019 The Other Side Of Oud - and we love the way that this scent honours Prince Hussein's original commission.
